Participants in the gallery are invited to wear video backpacks. Matched pairs of backpacks have one camera and one LCD video monitor. The battery powered units transmit the video from the camera to the LCD monitor over a wireless link. The participants are welcome to wander and survey their surroundings.
These units create an environment where one's image is arbitrarily captured and displayed. The public is subjected to persistent and pervasive surveillance. You do not know who is capturing your image, where that image is being transmitted to and who is observing that transmitted image.
