On the roof, Sapat and the SB make free with the noise and build complex sound fields, while Matthew Shipp and Guillermo Brown, Triptych Myth minus one, Matt Mikas and Daniel Carter, N.R.A., Mogami, and many others perform indoors. The gadget of honor is Paul Davies "Jazz-Shifter," two modified tractor gear shifts that allow users to cut up and recontextualize jazz history by rewiring Brubeck to Davis to Parker to Coltrane.
